Sections of Padden Parkway to close for paving Aug. 2-5, Aug. 9-12
Bart Arthur, Public Works
Vancouver, WA – Sections of Padden Parkway will close for paving and repairs the first two weekends in August.
At 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, Granite Construction Co. of Vancouver, the county’s contractor, will close the eastbound lanes of Padden Parkway between Northeast Andresen Road and Northeast 94th Avenue. The eastbound lanes are scheduled to open by 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5. This section will remain open to westbound traffic during construction.
The following weekend, the contactor will close westbound lanes of the same stretch of Padden Parkway. Work will begin at 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, and end no later than 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12. This section will remain open for eastbound traffic.
Both closures will close or restrict some on- and off-ramps for I-205 at Padden Parkway.
Clark County had planned to divide the work into two sections: Andresen Road to I-205 and I-205 to 94th Avenue. However, after extensive discussions with the contractor and Washington State Department of Transportation, all parties agreed that keeping Padden Parkway open to one direction would have less impact.
Andresen Road and 94th Avenue will remain open during the road work. Drivers can avoid construction by detouring onto Northeast 76th/78th Street. I-205 can be reached by driving south to State Route 500 on Andresen Road or 94th Avenue.
Temporary message signs have been placed on Padden Parkway alerting drivers to the upcoming construction. Detour signs will guide drivers around the work zone.
This work is weather dependent. Any schedule updates will be posted on the county’s website, www.clark.wa.gov/publicworks/roads/summer.html.
