Vancouver, WA – A section of Northeast 78th Street in Hazel Dell will close briefly for paving this weekend as part of Clark County’s ongoing program to preserve roads.
At 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, Granite Construction Co. of Vancouver, the county’s contractor, will close Northeast 78th Street between Highway 99 and Northeast Hazel Dell Avenue. On- and off-ramps at Interstate 5 also will close.
The road is scheduled to open by 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26.
Highway 99 and Northeast Hazel Dell Avenue will remain open during paving. Detour signs will be placed on both roads directing drivers to east-west routes on Northeast 99th Street and Northeast 63rd Street.
Businesses along the affected section of Northeast 78th Street can be reached using side streets. Clark County has distributed more than 100 brochures and maps to businesses about the upcoming road work. They can be found on the county website, www.clark.wa.gov/publicworks/roads/summer.html.
The county also has coordinated with police, fire and emergency medical responders.
Rainy weather could cause the work to be rescheduled. Residents can check the county’s website for schedule changes.
