County restricts truck weights on two rural roads to protect pavement
Matt Griswold, Public Works
Vancouver, WA – Clark County has placed weight restrictions on two north county roads that sustained major pavement damage after last week’s severe weather.
To prevent further damage after recent freezing and thawing, Clark County has prohibited trucks weighing more than 40,000 pounds on:
• Northeast Sunset Falls Road, from Northeast Dole Valley Road east for approximately five miles to the Skamania County line.
• Northeast Berry Road, from Northeast 240th Avenue northeast for approximately one mile to the Yacolt Burn State Forest boundary just west of Kaskillah/Northeast 264th Place.
School buses and fire engines are exempt from the weight restrictions, which are imposed under Clark County Code 10.08A.070.
Both road sections will be posted soon to alert drivers carrying more than 40,000 pounds to use alternate routes.
The county also will use distribution lists established through its over-legal permits program to inform truckers of the new weight restrictions.
