Swimming Pool/Hot Tub Chemicals
A variety of chemicals are used to control water conditions in swimming pools and hot tubs. They include disinfectants (such as chlorine), algaecides, chlorine stabilizers, oxidizers, alkalinity adjusters, pH adjusters and water conditioners. The disinfectant calcium hypochlorite (a chlorine compound) can have an extremely volatile reaction (fire or explosion) when mixed with organic materials such as paper, cloth or wood. Store pool chemicals in non-combutible containers. Store acids away from oxidizers and bases. Do not dispose of pool chemicals in the trash, they should be disposed of as a hazardous waste.
