Why recycle?

Illegally disposed tires cause an unsightly mess and can lead to fires, pollution and insect breeding problems. Tires are banned from modern landfills since they tend to “migrate” when buried—they just keep popping up!

To prepare for recycling

Most recyclers charge less for tires removed from the rims. Old or damaged rims can be recycled as scrap metal.

Where does it go next?

Many of the tires from Washington are shredded for use as an alternative fuel source.
