Citizen's Academy

Mission Statement: To promote a positive partnership between the community and Clark County Sheriff’s Office through education.

What is the Citizen’s Academy?
The Citizen’s Academy is a 12-week program designed to provide citizens of Clark County the opportunity to learn about the Sheriff’s Office.

What is the purpose of the Academy?
The purpose of the Citizen’s Academy is to increase understanding between the department and the citizens of Clark through education. Citizens will become familiar with the many facets of the Sheriff’s Office and local law and justice system. With an increased understanding, citizens of Clark County and law enforcement can partner together to realize realistic solutions to neighborhood problems relating to crime and the fear of crime.

When is the Academy?
The Citizen’s Academy is held Wednesday evenings, March through May each year.

Who is eligible to the academy?
The Citizen’s Academy is a course specifically designed for citizens who are active in their communities and who wish to learn more about law enforcement in Clark County.

  • Major Crimes/Crime Scene Investigation
  • Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency ( 911 )
  • Canine unit/Training
  • Child Abuse Intervention Center
  • Drug Task Force
  • Sex Offender Registration
  • Officer survival
  • District Court/Superior Court
  • Community Oriented Policing/Internal Affairs
  • Tour of the Jail and Medical Examiner’s Office
  • Community Based Corrections/Juvenile System
  • Fraud and Forgery
  • Firing Range
