What is C.R.E.A.M.?
C.R.E.A.M. is a computer reuse/recycle and marketing program. In partnerships with various agencies and companies, the C.R.E.A.M. program is to help reduce electronic waste from entering landfills by repairing, reusing, and recycling responsibly.
Let Jail Industries - C.R.E.A.M. recycle your computer and electronic waste. Jail Industries accepts any computers, computer related hardware, and electronics in any condition from residents and commercial loads from private companies.
C.R.E.A.M. utilizes inmate labor supervised by a Custody Officer. Inmate workers dismantle computer and electronic devices and seperate recyclable items from toxic pieces. In 2007, a total of 2,634 inmate workers worked a total of 21,446.5 hours.
This program has generated approximately $140,000 of revenue for the county general fund. In 2007, it remanufactured 70 computers which were donated to the Salvation Army low income family program.
