| New! 2009 Watershed of Words Creative Writing Contest |
|
| Last year's Watershed of Words proved to be a wonderful opportunity for Clark County students to express their feelings and experiences about local watersheds, while earning the honor of becoming locally published authors. As the contest grows in its second year, Clark County students grades K-12 are once again invited to send us their creative essays, poems, or short stories about their connection with our streams and watersheds. In order to extend our contest to those who prefer drawing as their medium, we are also accepting artwork when submitted in addition to a writing sample. Please note that if an entry includes artwork, one section may be selected for publication without the other. Each participant will receive a certificate of recognition, and selected writers and artists will receive a copy of the published booklet and a "published author" award certificate. The deadline for entries is February 27, 2009. For a full description of rules and guidelines, please download the official invitation below. |
| In 2008, four Clark County teachers and their classrooms helped pilot the original Watershed of Words booklet, which can be viewed below as a sample for this year's contest. |
