Stormwater Facility Monitoring

Clark County Water Resources staff inspecting a stormwater facilityMost research into the effectiveness of standard stormwater treatment facilities is performed by universities, state agencies, or other research groups.

While Water Resources staff do not conduct this type of basic research, they do implement special projects focused on improving the performance of individual facilities.

Several projects have been conducted at county stormwater facilities over the past few years:

  • Gabbert Stormwater Facility - baseline flow and precipitation data is being collected in 2005 to support engineering design work.
  • Tenny Creek Swan Ponds and Thomas Lake Wetland Facility - these two facilities were studied to determine potential temperature impacts to downstream water bodies.
  • Stormceptor - a StormceptorŽ treatment unit was tested as a possible stormwater system retrofit for use in previously developed areas.

Stormcepter Monitoring Results: 78th Street Maintenance Facility - July 2000 (PDF - 268K)
Swan Ponds Stormwater Facility: Temperature impacts to Tenny Creek - 2003 (PDF - 196K)
Thomas Wetland Temperature Monitoring Technical Report (PDF - 1.8M)
