Location: |
The Clark County Youth House is a youth empowerment center developed by the Clark County Department of Community Services. The foundation of the Youth House is built on the framework of the 40 Developmental Assets developed by the Search Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Building on the fact that the more assets young people have the more likely they are to grow and be healthy and productive, the following Youth House programs strive to increase the number of assets among each young person involved:
The Clark County Youth Commission (CCYC)
The Youth Commission is a youth driven advisory board established by the Clark County Board of Commissioners in April 1998. Members ages 11-19 from throughout Clark County provide a youth-oriented point of view to the work of the Board of County Commissioners, county departments, and community organizations.
Partnerships for Youth Transition
The Partnerships for Youth Transition project is building a system of treatment to address the particular difficulties that youth with serious emotional disturbances or serious mental illnesses face in making a successful transition to adulthood. This comprehensive continuum of services builds upon existing programs and work to bridge gaps between the children's mental health system and the adult mental health system.
Youth Suicide Prevention
A Task Force of community members developed a plan of action to address the issue of teen suicide in Clark County and began implementation in May 2002. The plan consists of six strategies to be implemented and sustained over a three year period.
