Candidate filing period & online candidate filing

The filing period for citizens wishing to become candidates for elective office is rapidly approaching. The offices open for candidate filings this year include two Superior Court judge positions, County Council District 2 position, County Council, Chair At-Large position, Port District Commissioner for Vancouver, Ridgefield and Camas-Washougal Port Districts, numerous School District Board positions, Fire Board positions, Cemetery Board positions and a Regional Wastewater Commissioner position. The in-person period to file a declaration of candidacy will begin at 8:00 AM, Monday, May 11 and runs through 5:00 PM, Friday, May 15, 2015. Candidates wishing to file for office in person can do so at the Clark County Elections Department, 1408 Franklin Street, Vancouver, 98660. Candidates for elective office also have the option of filing their declaration of candidacy over the Internet. The online candidate filing system will be available at http://clarkvotes.org from 9:00 AM, Monday, May 11 and will stop being available at 4:00 PM, Friday, May 15. In order to file online as a candidate, a citizen must have a valid email address and be registered to vote in the jurisdiction for which they are filing. Candidates will also be able to pay any candidate filing fee online using a valid Visa or MasterCard credit card. This year’s Primary will be held on August 4. The General election will be held on November 3, 2015.
