Implementation of Strategic Recommendations from the Citygate Report
Implementation of Citygate’s strategic recommendations require that Community Development convenes a Functional Oversight Team (FOT), who will work collaboratively to identify and mitigate impediments to timely and successful permit applications and plan reviews.
The FOT are comprised of county staff who represent all departments and programs participating in Clark County’s development and permit application and review, and construction industry stakeholders who represent residential and commercial builders and developers.
A series of facilitated FOT meetings will occur over an eight-week span to re-engineer the permit application and review processes:
- To ensure successful applications are processed and reviewed as expeditiously as possible;
- To identify resources necessary to ensure consistently prompt processing and review of completed permit applications;
- To develop metrics to measure performance and quality assurance for continuous improvement; and
- To supplement the development of a two-year strategic plan for Community Development.
Once the FOT has identified the ideal permitting application and review processes and timelines, the team will be restructured and downsized to focus on identifying resources, changes, and procedures needed to successfully implement permit process improvements.
