Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County is seeking community feedback on proposed development codes that would allow freight rail-dependent development adjacent to the county’s short line Chelatchie Prairie Railroad.

An open house on the proposed codes will be held at 6:30 pm Thursday, Aug. 30, in the commons area at Hockinson High School, 16819 NE 159th St., Brush Prairie.

The 2017 Washington State Legislature amended the Growth Management Act to allow freight rail-dependent uses and give Clark County authority to allow such uses adjacent to short line railroads. The county council appointed an advisory committee to develop and recommend regulations that identify types of developments, where they can be built, and development standards to reduce impacts.

You can learn more about the proposal on the project webpage, www.clark.wa.gov/rail. A project survey to collect feedback on the proposal is open until Thursday, Sept. 13. You can fill out the survey online through the project webpage, or in-person at the open house event.
