Vancouver, WA -- The Board of County Councilors has rescheduled to Monday, Nov. 9, a work session in preparation for a public hearing about a “preferred alternative” to update the local growth management plan.

The work session will be 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the sixth-floor hearing room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.

Topics will include planning assumptions, including state forecasts for population increases over the next 20 years. In addition, the public briefing will examine alternatives focusing on rural areas.

A “preferred alternative” approved by the board will be the subject of a final supplemental environmental impact statement available for public comment before a plan update is adopted.

The current plan has been in effect since 2007. The update will cover planning and zoning through 2035.

Revised maps of Alternative 4 and additional documents relating to planning assumptions and population projections are posted under the Oct. 20 Public Hearing entry at http://www.clark.wa.gov/the-grid/.

The work session originally was scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Nov. 4.
