NE 99th Street Extension

Body

Clark County’s Arterial Atlas indicates the future extension of NE 99th Street. The extension would connect to NE 72nd Ave through NE 101st St. crossing over the railroad.

The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission will not permit an at-grade crossing of the railroad at this location because there is a corner in the tracks immediately to the south. The commission is concerned that engineers on northbound trains would not have sufficient time to see the crossing as they approach it.

The Clark County Council directed staff to analyze the existing road alignment and look into appropriate changes to the Arterial Atlas for this extension. The county is working with a consultant to perform a feasibility and cost comparison of extending NE 99th St. from NE 88th Ave. to NE 72nd Ave.

Next steps

Clark County Council will hold a hearing on December 11, 2018 to discuss the Planning Commission's recommendation of approval to change the 99th Street alignment on the Arterial Atlas to the Alternative F alignment. Information will be continuously updated when available.  Please contact staff for any additional information.
