Vancouver, WA ̶ The Clark County Arts Commission invites the public to a reception recognizing artist John Kay, whose works now are exhibited in the Sixth Floor Gallery of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. The show is entitled “John Kay: Urban Decollages.” His compositions are created from urban photographs made in Europe and the U.S. Printed on large aluminum panels, they bridge the gap between photography and painting. Layers of posters and the passage of time converge to reveal the images, the arts commission said. The reception for Kay will be 5-7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, during the First Friday event in downtown Vancouver. Poets will share interpretations of Kay’s work, and light refreshments will be served. The reception will be on the sixth floor of the Public Service Center. The exhibit will remain at the gallery through September. Visitors are welcome during regular 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. business hours, except Sept. 7, when the building will be closed for Labor Day.
