Vancouver, WA – Students and teachers from more than 20 Clark County schools will gather next month to learn how they can ratchet up their earth-friendly activities. Clark County’s Green Schools Program will host its annual Student Summit from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the Water Resources Education Center, 4600 S.E. Columbia Way. The four-hour event will include educational activities, breakout sessions and plenty of opportunities for children and teachers to learn from one another. “The Student Summit is a great opportunity for our future environmental leaders to network and synergize green efforts,” said Don Benton, Environmental Services director. The Green Schools program works to create a cohesive system of environmentally active schools that promote sustainable living and earth-friendly practices to students, teachers and parents. Clark County has 74 schools in the program, the highest number of any county in the state. “Instilling the importance of limiting our environmental footprint with our children sets the stage for a sustainable future,” said Bernadette Donald, an environmental outreach specialist. “I look forward to every school in Clark County being a part of this great program.” To learn more about the Green Schools program and how your school can participate, visit www.wagreenschools.org.
