Garbage, recycling collection efforts stepped-up following weather delays

Vancouver, WA – Clark County Solid Waste Operations is coordinating with Waste Connections of Washington to provide make-up garbage and recycling service after recent winter storms delayed collections throughout the county.

“We appreciate the public’s patience,” said Mike Davis, environmental operations specialist. “With persistent poor road conditions, we have been balancing residents’ needs with the need to keep waste collection workers safe.”

As snow continues to melt, Waste Connections has mobilized extra crews and trucks and expects to catch up with waste and recycling collection by the end of next week, unless hampered by unexpected weather or unmelted snow and ice. Residents who missed a pickup may set out an extra can. For questions about your service, email CustomerHelp@WasteConnections.com or call (360) 892-5370.

To help workers collect garbage and recycling, residents are asked to:

  • Have carts and accumulated waste easily accessible by collection trucks and cleared of ice and snow for the safety of collection crews
  • Securely close all garbage bags to prevent spills
  • Place excess garbage and recycling into secure, lidded containers to prevent odors and attracting pests, and mark as garbage or recycling
  • Not place excess recyclables into any plastic bag; plastic bags are not recyclable
  • Be sure Waste Connections has your phone number to notify you of collection delays. The company issues a call-blast to phone numbers in customer accounts. If you did not receive a call-blast message about recent delays, please update your phone number with Waste Connections. If your number is on a Do Not Call list, you must provide a different phone number to receive a call-blast message.

Customers also can receive alerts by downloading the RecycleRight app from www.RecyclingA-Z.com. Alert notifications are available by email, text or the app, which also allows on-call yard debris customers to request a pick-up, has a collection day calendar, and can set up reminders for setting out collection carts.
