Vancouver, WA – Clark County and the city of Ridgefield will hold a Green Neighbors Recycling Day Event and Spring Clean-Up on Saturday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the 5900 block of South 11th Street, west of Parr Lumber and South Timm Road.

Clark County residents can drop off block foam, electronic equipment, old tires without rims, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioning units and scrap metal. Participants are limited to five tires per vehicle. No business waste will be accepted.

Ridgefield residents also can drop off household garbage, which must be contained properly and residents must be able to remove the garbage from their vehicle themselves.

Non-perishable food donations for the Clark County Food Bank will be gratefully accepted and a car wash will raise money to support Ridgefield High School student activities.

Household hazardous waste (HHW) such as paints, pesticides, poisons, automotive fluids and chemicals will NOT be accepted at this event. County residents can dispose of household hazardous waste for free at these three transfer stations:

  • Central Transfer and Recycling Center, 11034 N.E. 117th Ave., Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • West Vancouver Materials Recovery Center, 6601 N.W. Old River Road, Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Washougal Transfer Station, 4020 S. Grant Street, third Saturday of the month, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

“Remember that household hazardous waste, such as paint and pesticides, are not accepted at this event,” said Don Benton, Environmental Services director. “Take all your HHW to the transfer stations.”

Residents who take household hazardous waste to the transfer stations between April 1 and Oct. 31 can enter to win a $20 gift card.

Green Neighbors, an Environmental Services program, will sponsor the April 23 event in partnership with Ridgefield. A Washington State Department of Ecology grant provided funding.

Recycling Day Events are free and open to all Clark County residents. Proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or other identification with an address, may be required.
