Clark County is seeking applicants for four positions on its Commission on Aging. The commission manages and implements the county’s Aging Readiness Plan and fosters countywide awareness, dialogue and insight into challenges and opportunities for residents of all ages, incomes and abilities.

The submission deadline has been extended to 4 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2023. Applicants should submit a résumé and letter of interest to Michelle Pfenning, County Manager’s Office, at Michelle.Pfenning@clark.wa.gov. Applications also may be mailed to P.O. Box 5000, Vancouver, WA 98666-5000.

Clark County Public Health’s offices will be closed on Wednesday, April 12 for an all-day staff training event. Online services will continue to be available.

Beginning Friday, April 7, ballots will be mailed to all registered voters who reside in the Washougal and Woodland  School Districts.

Children’s Justice Center to hold awareness walk and learn on April 23

Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Council today proclaimed April as Child Abuse Awareness Month. The proclamation was presenting during the council’s public hearing. It is available on the county’s website.

As part of the county’s efforts on the 2025 Comprehensive Growth Management Plan update, Clark County Council will hold a work session and conduct a public hearing to take public testimony and select a 2045 population projection from the range provided by the Washington Office of Financial Management (OFM).

The Clark County Assessor’s office property tax exemption specialists will be available to answer questions and enroll property owners in the county’s property tax relief program at an upcoming public event.

The Tax Exemption Program for senior citizens and people with disabilities can reduce property tax liability for qualifying homeowners. Eligibility is based on age or disability, home ownership, residency and income. Participants are not required to repay the taxes, and their homes are not subject to property liens.

The Clark County Auditor’s Auto License Office in downtown Vancouver is updating its hours of operation.

Effective Monday, April 3, 2023, the hours for walk-in and phone services will be 9 am to noon and 1 pm to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. The office is located 1408 Franklin St.

The county manager is seeking applicants to fill two positions on the volunteer Community Action Advisory Board.

Positions include an elected official from the county’s fourth district, and a low-income representative from the county’s fifth district.

Term periods start immediately, and are three years, ending Dec. 31, 2025. Incumbents have the opportunity for re-appointment to two additional three-year terms.

Clark County Jail Services and Human Resources staff will hold an information open house for individuals interested in a career as a corrections officer.

The open house will be Wednesday, April 19 in the sixth-floor hearing room in the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. The event begins at 7 pm, doors open at 6:30. Seating is limited, and reservations are required by sending an email to DLCntyJailServicesRecruiting@clark.wa.gov.

Clark County’s Composter Recycler program is offering a series of free online workshops about composting and sustainable living strategies. The eight-part series will teach participants how to reduce their impact on the planet through composting, green cleaning, recycling, food waste prevention, and low waste living.
