North county, small cities openings on Solid Waste Advisory Commission

Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Council is seeking applicants to fill two volunteer positions on the Solid Waste Advisory Commission. One position will represent Clark County north of 179th Street. The other will represent small cities and applicants for that position must live or work in Battle Ground, La Center, Ridgefield, Camas, Washougal or Yacolt.

Commission members serve three-year terms. They make recommendations to the county on issues such as recycling, garbage collection, landfills, transfer stations and waste reduction programs.

The commission meets at 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of February, May, August and November. The next meeting, however, has been rescheduled for Feb. 8. Meetings are at the Center for Community Health, 1601 E. Fourth Plain Blvd., Room 210AB.

Applicants should send a résumé and letter of interest to Tina Redline, County Manager’s Office, P.O. Box 5000, Vancouver 98666-5000. Letters and résumés also can be emailed to tina.redline@clark.wa.gov or faxed to 360.397.6058.

The letter of interest should address:

  • Your representation of either north Clark County or the county’s small cities.
  • Your personal or professional experience related to solid waste.
  • Your vision for the future of solid waste management in Clark County.

The terms begin when the positions are filled.
