Vancouver, WA – The 11th annual Clark County Recycled Arts Festival, presented June 25-26 by McCord’s Vancouver Toyota, will host more than 40 new artists who will display and sell art such as repurposed leather, stained glass and paintings.

Each year, artists who have not previously participated are encouraged to apply to keep the event fresh and new.

The free festival will be Saturday and Sunday, June 25-26 at Esther Short Park, 415 W. 6th St. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Attendees who show their reusable mugs or water bottles at the Information Tent will be entered in a special drawing.

“One of the things I love most about the festival is bringing in new artists and seeing what they have created,” said Sally Fisher, Recycled Arts Festival program coordinator.

Another first this year will be chemical-free portable toilets. Provided by Nature Commode of Longview, Wash., the toilets use locally sourced sawdust instead of the blue deodorizer typically found in portable toilets.

“Every step we take to become more sustainable is a step in the right direction,” said Fisher.

The family friendly festival also will include:

  • Music on the stage starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday
  • Art ala Carte will offer carts filled with recycled materials children can use to create art
  • Environmental education activities, including tours of a Tiny House
  • A sculpture garden displaying some of the festival largest pieces
  • Tours of downtown Vancouver on Couve Cycle, a multi-passenger, pedal-powered party cycle
  • Multiple food carts.

The Recycled Arts Festival emphasizes reducing and reusing waste. The informative, fun event is organized by Clark County and an official event of the Portland Rose Festival.
