Clark County marshals forces for full response to heavy rainfall

Body
Vancouver, WA – Clark County Public Works is out in force responding to heavy rains and isolated flooding. About 60 Public Works employees are in the field responding to customer service requests and related flooding issues, including one landslide at an apartment complex near Klineline Pond east of Interstate 5. Problems in unincorporated Clark County (outside city limits) can be reported to Clark County Public Works by calling (360) 397-2446. After-hours calls are forwarded to answering service to dispatch crews as necessary. For urgent situations that pose an immediate threat to public safety, call 911. Please do not call 911 to ask about sandbags. Clark County has a limited number of sandbags and sand available at 4700 N.E. 78th St. and 11608 N.E. 149th St. to help with emergencies. People who use these supplies need to bring their own shovels. City residents should contact their city public works department for sandbag information. Street flooding is often caused by clogged storm drains or obstructed roadside ditches. To prevent problems, do not blow, rake or sweep leaves onto streets. On lightly traveled neighborhood streets, residents can clear clogged storm drains by standing in a safe place and using a rake or other garden tool to pull leaves from the path of flowing water. Residents should not try to clear storm drains on busy streets. Call (360) 397-2446 to report clogged storm drains, flooding or overflowing stormwater facilities.
