Vancouver, WA  --  The Board of County Councilors has invited local city officials and the county Planning Commission to join in a work session to prepare for public hearings on a “preferred alternative” to update the local growth management plan.

Organizations with rural concerns also are encouraged to attend and may address planning issues under consideration.

In addition, the session will be open for anyone interested to receive the latest information available for public hearings on Nov. 19 (Planning Commission) and Nov. 24 (Board of County Councilors).

The work session will be 1:30-3:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9 in the sixth-floor hearing room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.

During the public hearings, the Planning Commission and Board may act on a broad range of options and changes, including planning assumptions, such as population forecasts and the number of homes needed in urban and rural areas through 2035.

Other topics may include vacant buildable lands, maps, documents that may be included in the plan and a recent supplemental environmental impact statement. The environmental analysis covered four alternatives. Alternative 4 was later revised and posted online at www.clark.wa.gov/thegrid/.

Additional materials are available on the county website at www.clark.wa.gov/Planning/2016update/index.html.
