One-Day Work Parties
One-day work parties are a great way to get involved and work with other community members to beautify parks, trails and green spaces.
You do not need to complete a volunteer application to participate in a one-day work party. Simply go to the calendar of events and complete the registration form for your specific event.
One-day work parties can include tree plantings, trail maintenance, general park maintenance and a variety of other tasks.
Clark County Public Works regularly schedules work parties throughout the year and typically needs more volunteers to participate.
Clark County also will develop one-day private projects for corporate groups, schools, scout groups, faith-based organizations and other community members at a park, trail or green space.
This is a nice team building exercise and a great way to give back to the community.
Duties and responsibilities
Volunteers will work as part of a group to complete a project for the day.
Volunteers must be comfortable working outside, sometimes on uneven ground and rugged trails, and be willing to get a little dirty. They should be ready to show Initiative and work independently, as well as to follow directions as needed.
This work requires lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending and handling materials. Volunteers should be able to lift up to 25 pounds and work outside during heat, cold and rain.
Volunteers should be prepared to interact and communicate with the public in a professional manner that reflects positively on their organization and Clark County.
Volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes and long pants while working.
Various parks, trails and open spaces.
One-day work parties are typically 3-4 hours long. The most common time is 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
All ages can participate, but youth 13 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Teenagers 14 to 17 will need a signed Minor Consent Form (PDF) to participate without a parent or guardian.
This is great opportunity to get outside and make a difference in our parks. Participating in one-day work parties is also a great way to socialize while enhancing our community.
