Clark County Senior Tax Work-Off Program
The Senior Tax Work-Off Program allows low-income senior citizens and disabled taxpayers the opportunity to work for various Clark County departments at a minimum wage to pay a portion of their property taxes; employment is for a specific number of hours equating half of the taxpayers’ total obligation to Clark County. This program gives participants more control of their economic life in a time of seemingly ever-rising taxes and an opportunity to share some of the knowledge and skills they have accumulated through their life. The participants are also given an opportunity to work along side County employees giving them a better understanding of Clark County government as well as giving County employees the ability to benefit from the participants years of knowledge, experience and skills.
- Senior citizens or disabled taxpayers currently participating in the exemption program and are within the lowest-income category
- Senior citizens or disabled taxpayers currently participating in the exemption program and with a total tax obligation of at least $300
Applications are automatically sent out to qualifying participants each year. As applications are returned they are placed in a pool in the Clark County Human Resources Department. Participating departments request applications from HR as they need arises for additional department assistance. Clark County uses a temporary employment agency for payroll purposes and participants receive their paycheck directly from the temp agency rather than the county.
