Vancouver, WA – The Clark County Auditor’s performance audit of the County’s job creation/fee waiver program has earned the top award in its size category from the Association of Local Government Auditors, a group of more than 340 audit organizations across North America. The Knighton Award program recognizes the best performance audit reports from the preceding year in each of five size categories. Evaluation criteria include methodology, evidence and persuasiveness of conclusions. Judges also consider the audit’s focus on efficient and effective government as well as the potential impact of recommendations. Clark County’s performance audit received the Exemplary Award, the top spot in its category. Judges said the audit was “objective in its treatment of evidence and sensitive to its policy implications.” Ultimately, the report won due to its “scope and methodology, significant impact and for its clear and concise writing.” “We’re honored to have our report selected as the best of 2014 in our size category,” said Auditor Greg Kimsey. “This award is the result of the professionalism of our team, the high quality of their work and dedication to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of Clark County government.” The association will pay for Clark County performance auditor Larry Stafford to travel to its annual conference where he will deliver a presentation and accept the award. “Being recognized by our peers makes this award especially meaningful,” said Stafford. “They understand what we do and carefully and thoroughly examine the submitted reports. We’re extremely proud to have been chosen.” The Job Creation/Fee Waiver report and other Clark County audit reports can be viewed here or obtained by calling (360) 397- 2310. ###
