Vancouver, WA -- The Board of County Councilors has rescheduled to Monday, Nov. 9, a work session in preparation for a public hearing about a “preferred alternative” to update the local growth management plan.

The work session will be 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the sixth-floor hearing room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.

Topics will include planning assumptions, including state forecasts for population increases over the next 20 years. In addition, the public briefing will examine alternatives focusing on rural areas.

Vancouver, WA ‒ Clark County Treasurer Doug Lasher reminds residents that second-installment property taxes are due Monday, Nov. 2, 2015.

“If you have not received your 2015 second-installment tax statement or have lost it, you can visit our website at www.clark.wa.gov/treasurer or contact the Treasurer’s Office at (360) 397-2252 for a duplicate statement,” Lasher said.

The Treasurer’s Office is on the second floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St., one block north of the Clark County Courthouse.

A change has been made to the time the Clark County Canvassing Board will meet to canvass results of the Nov. 3, 2015 General Election. The Clark County Canvassing Board will convene at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, to canvass returns of the General Election held Nov. 3, 2015. The board will examine mail ballots, determine the status of provisional and challenged ballots, and perform other canvassing duties. The board will meet to certify election results at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24. Both meetings will be in the Elections Department conference room, 1408 Franklin St., Vancouver.

Vancouver, WA – Clark County is seeking applicants for an opening on its Commission on Aging. The commission provides leadership addressing the needs of people older than 50 and implements the county’s Aging Readiness Plan. Volunteer service is for a two-year term. Residents living anywhere in Clark County can apply; those with experience and expertise in advocating for seniors, launching new programs, public speaking or serving on boards and commissions are encouraged to apply. The commission meets 3:30-6 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month.

The meeting will include a public hearing to consider adoption of the Clark County Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan at the Public Service Center, sixth-floor hearing room, 1300 Franklin St.

Vancouver, WA – Written comments will be accepted until 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17 for the Planning Commission to consider before recommending a “preferred alternative” for the county’s next growth management plan. The Planning Commission will meet to deliberate at 6:30 that evening on the sixth floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. The public hearing for oral comments ended Sept. 10. Anyone interested may review and comment on the supplemental draft environmental impact statement released Aug. 5 covering four alternatives.

Vancouver, WA – Michael D. Smith of Battle Ground has won an iPad Mini for taking an online quiz testing how much Clark County residents know about recycling. A random number generator selected Smith from approximately 2,000 people who took the quiz. Clark County Department of Environmental Services confirmed he was among those who received a passing grade by answering at least 75 percent of the questions correctly. The quiz is part of Environmental Services’ Recycling Done Right project to decrease the amount of non-recyclables in blue residential recycling carts.
