The county’s role is to provide public infrastructure and land use planning\permitting that increase the opportunity for growth and development. 

The county’s primary focus areas are:

• Transportation planning and projects
• Storm water planning and projects
• Land use planning and permitting
• Investment in and management of county-owned railroad

The county government focuses on these areas of core competency. It partners with groups in the community for other economic development activities such as recruitment, workforce training, education, marketing, land aggregation and development, etc.
