Diking and drainage district candidate filing period begins Dec. 11

Beginning at 8 am on Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, Clark County Elections Department will begin taking candidate filings for the commissioner positions of: Drainage District 2 positions 1 and 2; Drainage Improvement District 5 positions 1, and Diking Improvement District 14 positions 2. All terms are for 6 years except Drainage District 2 position 2 which for an unexpired term of 4 years.

The filing period will end at 5 pm on Friday, Dec. 13, 2023.

The official date of the election for these commissioner positions will be Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024.  If only one candidate files for any of these three positions, that candidate will be deemed elected and an election will not be held for that office.

In order to be eligible to file or to vote within each of these districts, a person must have been a registered voter within the State of Washington for at least 30 days and also must have owned property within the district for at least 30 days.  Any corporation or partnership owning property in one of these districts has the right to appoint a qualified voter of the district as their representative to vote for a candidate for office within the district.
