Vancouver, Wash. – People wanting to serve on the board of one of two drainage districts or a diking district in Clark County can file as candidates for the February 2108 election during the second week of December.

Candidates can file for positions on Drainage District 2, Drainage Improvement District 5 or Diking Improvement District 14 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, Dec. 11 to Dec. 15. People must file at the Elections Office, 1408 Franklin St.

If only one person files for any of the three available positions, that candidate will be deemed elected and no election will be held for that office.

To be eligible to be a candidate or vote in the election, a person must have been a registered Washington voter for at least 30 days before the election and must have owned property in the district for at least 30 days before the election.

A corporation or partnership that owns property in a district can appoint a qualified district voter as its representative to vote in the district race.
