Vancouver, Wash. -- The Clark County Auditor's Office is sponsoring an upcoming workshop, "Winning Ways to Run for Office - A Candidate/Campaign Worker Workshop."

The free workshop will be 6:30-8:30 pm, Monday May 7, at the Clark County Elections Office, 1408 Franklin St.

State Senator Ann Rivers, of the 18th Legislative District, will speak about making the decision to run and then campaigning for an office. Noland Hoshino and Jim Mains of High Five Media will describe what it takes to carry out an effective campaign for a candidate or issue in Clark County.

Speakers also will offer helpful advice regarding political sign regulations, campaign finance, interacting with the news media, fair campaign practices and resources available at the Elections Office.

The workshop is aimed at current candidates for public office, for people considering becoming candidates, for those who are working on a campaign for an issue or candidate, or who think they might in the future, and anyone interested in the topics. Time will be available for questions and answers. An informal reception will follow the presentations.

The workshop will not directly or indirectly assist any campaign or promote or oppose any ballot proposition. The panelists' comments represent their own opinions, not those of Clark County or the Auditor's Office.
