Clark County jail inmate dies from apparent suicide

On Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at approximately 6:45 pm corrections officers at the Clark County Jail were conducting a routine security check when they found inmate Rodger Williams unresponsive and in need of medical attention due to an apparent suicide. CPR was promptly started, jail medical staff responded, and EMS was notified and responded to the jail. 

CPR efforts were unsuccessful, and inmate Williams was pronounced dead. Detectives from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office responded to conduct an investigation; next of kin were notified. Williams was being housed in a cell by himself after being booked into the Clark County Jail on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, by the Vancouver Police Department.
