The Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) on June 26 announced it will close Larch Corrections Center (LCC) located near Yacolt in October.

According to the DOC statement, the 115 staff members at LCC will be offered jobs at other DOC facilities. However, Clark County also will reach out to LCC staff to discuss local career opportunities.

“After discussions with DOC administration, Jail Services recruitment staff are now scheduled to visit Larch Corrections Center over the next few weeks to share information regarding our lateral hiring process,” said Joe Barnett, Deputy Director of Jail Administration. “We value their staff’s skills, knowledge, and abilities related to public safety, and encourage them to apply for positions at the Clark County Jail.”

Clark County Jail Services staff have scheduled two workshops with LCC staff to discuss county jail career opportunities and the application and hiring process for both corrections and support staff.
