• Elections

Every election, the Clark County Auditor’s Office provides an online and printed voters’ guide with information about candidates and ballot measures for voters to make informed decisions when voting. The February voters’ guide includes local ballot measures with supporting and opposing statements written by citizens.


• Public Works

Clark County Public Works, Parks and Lands will be working with a tree service contractor to trim and/or remove hazardous trees in Foley (undeveloped) and Tiger Tree Neighborhood Parks. Hazardous trees are those with structural defects that make them likely to fall in whole or in part. Parks and Lands removes hazardous trees when they present a risk to park users or property, or to neighboring properties. 


• Public Health

Clark County Solid Waste and Environmental Outreach encourages the community to celebrate the holidays by taking thoughtful steps to reduce waste, reuse and recycle.


• Elections

Clark County Elections received notification from the Office of Secretary of State that Joe Kent provided a written application requesting a machine recount for the 3rd Congressional District race from the November general election.


• Community Services

The Clark County Youth Commission is seeking nominations to recognize 300 local youth that demonstrate personal growth and community contribution in one of thirteen categories of achievement. Youth will be recognized in categories such as arts, career development, citizenship, courage, diversifier, education, empathy, environmental stewardship, family life, inspiration, leadership, personal achievement, and sportsmanship.


• Public Works

County Manager Kathleen Otto is seeking applicants to fill two open positions on the nine-member Clark Communities Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee. Committee members serve four-year terms. Terms are to begin Jan. 1, 2023, effective upon appointment to the committee.  


• Elections

The Clark County Canvassing Board will convene at 3 pm Tuesday, December 13, 2022, to canvass returns of a requested partial manual recount of the Clark County Council, Councilor, District No. 5 race from the November 8, 2022 General Election. The board will convene to examine two additional ballots discovered and perform other canvassing duties and certify the amended abstract.


• Public Health

Respiratory viruses continue to spread at high levels in Clark County. About 38% of influenza tests administered in Clark County were positive for the second week in a row, and the county’s 7-day COVID-19 case rate climbed to 87.5 cases per 100,000 people – the highest case rate since August.

Dr. Alan Melnick, Public Health director and Clark County health officer, and Dr. Steven Krager, Clark County deputy health officer, joined other health leaders across the state today to issue the following statement:


• County Manager

A majority of the Clark County Council this week voted to approve the annual budget for 2023. The total expense budget for 2023 is $753.5 million.


• Public Works

2023 annual parking passes for county regional parks are available for purchase beginning Tuesday, Dec. 6. Daily parking fees are charged year-round at four county regional parks – Frenchman’s Bar, Lewisville, Salmon Creek and Vancouver Lake – and range from $2 to $8 depending on vehicle type. The daily parking fee can be paid at the fee booth when fee collection staff are present, via the Flowbird mobile app, self-pay stations or by displaying a valid annual parking pass.
