Klineline Pond at Salmon Creek Regional Park will be closed to the public Wednesday, Aug. 24 for maintenance crews to safely remove a damaged picnic shelter and repair the splash pad water-play feature.

Clark County Public Health has issued a warning advisory at Round Lake due to elevated levels of cyanotoxins from harmful algae.

Results from water samples taken from Round Lake on Monday revealed cyanotoxins above the threshold levels recommended by the Washington Department of Health. Warning signs are being placed at public access points at the lake. The warning advisory issued last week for Lacamas Lake remains in place.

Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County is seeking nominations of businesses and individuals for its annual Clark County Disability Employment Awareness Month Awards. The awards honor the role people with developmental disabilities have in assisting us to achieve a dynamic, productive workforce and recognize the leadership of the business community. The event also celebrates October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

Awards will be given for the following categories:

Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County is accepting applications to fill all five positions on the 78th Street Heritage Farm Technical Advisory Team. All positions would begin in the fall of 2022.

Team members serve two-year terms. Upon expiration of a term, a member can apply again. There is no limit on how many terms a member can serve.

Clark County Public Health has issued a warning advisory at Lacamas Lake due to elevated levels of cyanotoxins from harmful algae.

Public Health has been monitoring harmful algal blooms at Lacamas Lake since early July. A warning advisory was in place at the lake for a few weeks last month but was lifted after water quality improved.

The Clark County Finance Committee is scheduled to meet at 9:30 am Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022.

The Clark County Finance Committee meeting is open to the public. The meeting will be offered both in-person and via a virtual meeting option pursuant to RCW 42.30.030(2), which encourages public agencies to provide for public access to meetings.

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the challenges of connecting older adults to resources, information and each other. These connection challenges existed before the pandemic and will continue into the future.

Learn how peer-to-peer educators are creatively conducting outreach with older residents, families, friends, and neighbors at the next meeting of the Commission on Aging, 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022. The meeting guest will be a representative from the Program to Encourage Active, Rewarding Lives (PEARLS) initiative.

The Clark County Canvassing Board will convene at 2 pm Friday, Aug. 12, 2022, to canvass returns of the Primary and Special Election held on Aug. 2. The board will examine ballots, determine the status of voter intent issues and challenged ballots and perform other canvassing duties.

The board will meet to certify election results at 2 pm Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022.

All meetings will be held in the Elections Department conference room at 1408 Franklin St. This building is wheelchair accessible.

The Clark County Board of Health is seeking applicants for a position on the volunteer Public Health Advisory Council.

The open position is for a nurse practicing in Clark County. The three-year term begins Oct. 1, 2022 and ends Sept. 30, 2025.

The advisory council meets 5:30-7:30 pm on the fourth Tuesday of every even month via Zoom. When in-person meetings resume, they will be 6-8 pm in the main conference room on the second floor of the Center for Community Health, 1601 E Fourth Plain Blvd.

The intersection of Northeast 99th Street at Northeast 94th Avenue will be closed beginning Monday, Aug. 15. Drivers will need to take a detour route to allow Clark County’s contractor to construct a new roundabout. A detour route map can be found on the project website.

The closure is expected to be in place no more than 40 days. Closure start and end dates are weather dependent.
