Clark County is seeking applicants for three positions on its Commission on Aging. The commission manages and implements the county’s Aging Readiness Plan and fosters countywide awareness, dialogue and insight into challenges and opportunities for residents of all ages, incomes and abilities.

The submission deadline has been extended to 4 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2022. Applicants should submit a résumé and letter of interest to Michelle Pfenning, County Manager’s Office, at Michelle.Pfenning@clark.wa.gov. Applications also may be mailed to P.O. Box 5000, Vancouver, WA 98666-5000.

The Clark County Auditor’s Office is aware of door-to-door canvassing by the “Clark County Voter Research Project.” These canvasses are not associated with the Clark County Elections Office.

Clark County Council Chair Karen Dill Bowerman released the following statement regarding the invasion of Ukraine.

“I, and the entire Clark County Council, stand in solidarity with our Ukrainian neighbors; we send our thoughts and prayers for peace in Ukraine. We join local, state, national, and global leaders in condemning the invasion of Ukraine.

At 10 am on Thursday, March 17, the Clark County Elections Office will conduct a logic and accuracy test of the programming to be used to tabulate ballots and the accessible voting units for the April 26 special election.

The test will be held at the Elections Office, 1408 Franklin St. Members of the news media, jurisdictions with measures on the ballot and the public are invited to attend this test, which is required under Washington law.

Ballots will be mailed Friday, April 8.   

The Commission on Aging will hold a joint meeting with the Clark County Council and present a summary of its ninth year of work on Wednesday, March 16. The 4:30 p.m. meeting will be held in a virtual format via Webex.

This meeting was rescheduled from its original date of Feb. 16.

The Parks and Lands division of Clark County Public Works will be working with a tree service contractor to remove several hazardous trees along the Lacamas Heritage Trail. The trees are located near the 2 Creeks Condos southeast of the Heritage Trail trailhead.

A concerned neighbor reported the trees to the City of Camas in 2021. The trees were evaluated by a certified arborist who determined that the trees present a hazard to structures on adjacent properties.

Kathleen Otto, county manager for Clark County is seeking applicants with an interest in government and educational access television and cable television franchising to fill a position on the volunteer city/county Telecommunications Commission. 

The position is for an unexpired three-year term that begins immediately and ends March 31, 2023. Applicants must be Clark County residents.

Clark County Treasurer Alishia Topper reminds residents that first-installment 2022 property taxes are due April 30, however because that date falls on a Saturday, payments on Monday, May 2, will be honored.

Tax statements will be mailed during the first week of March. If taxpayers are expecting a mailed statement and don’t receive one or have questions, they should visit www.clark.wa.gov/treasurer or contact the Treasurer’s Office at 564.397.2252 for a duplicate statement.

The county manager is seeking applicants to fill one pending vacancy on the Clark County Development and Engineering Advisory Board, DEAB. The position is for an at-large representative and is open to professionals associated with land development.

The term for the position is three years beginning April 1, 2022 and ending March 31, 2025.

The advisory board reviews policy and county code changes and works on process improvements and fees with the county’s Community Development, Community Planning and Public Works departments.
