Clark County recognizes that older adults are valuable contributors to the vitality of this community. To encourage and support older adults for their contributions to their communities, the Clark County Commission on Aging has established a program to recognize older adults by means of an annual award presented at a Commission on Aging event.

Clark County Public Health is investigating a confirmed case of monkeypox virus infection in a Clark County resident.

Public Health was notified Monday morning that a Clark County resident – an adult male with no recent travel history – tested positive for monkeypox. The case is isolating at home.

Clark County Public Health is urging residents to take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses during the upcoming stretch of hot weather.

Several days next week temperatures are forecast to be in the upper 90s and may climb above 100 degrees. Overnight low temperatures are expected to be in the mid to upper 60s. The length of the hot spell, coupled with warm overnight temperatures that provide little relief from the heat, can create a risk to health and safety.

Vancouver, Wash. – On July 25, Confluence Tree Service will begin removing hazardous trees in Lacamas Regional Park. Work is expected to be complete by July 29.

Work areas will be identified on a map posted at the site. Trails inside the project area will be closed to the public. Park users should adhere to posted signage, remain outside of the work area, and use alternate trail routes during the scheduled closure.

Vancouver, Wash. - Clark County Treasurer Alishia Topper announced the county closed on the refinance of three Limited Tax General Obligation Refunding Bonds and executed two additional early payoffs. The transaction was completed on July 14, 2022.

Vancouver, Wash. – Superior Court Judge David Gregerson has ordered that John Ley is an ineligible candidate for Washington state’s 18^th Legislative District State Representative Position No. 2 and directs the Clark County Canvassing board, in its certification of the 2022 primary election, to not include votes cast for Ley.

Clark County Community Development is working on a project to implement an electronic plan review program. The projected go live date for the program is Sept. 19.

Once ePlans review is implemented, the county will only receive electronic applications and plans. Hard copies will no longer be accepted. This will apply to new applications. Paper applications currently in the system will continue to be processed as is.

Clark County Public Health has issued a warning advisory at Lacamas Lake due to elevated levels of cyanotoxins from harmful algae.

Results from water samples taken from Lacamas Lake on Monday revealed cyanotoxins above the threshold levels recommended by the Washington Department of Health. Warning signs are being placed at public access points at the lake.

Cyanotoxins can be harmful to people, especially young children, and deadly for small pets that drink the water. Health officials recommend:

Clark County has implemented and currently operates eviction prevention rent assistance programs to assist people who are low-income impacted by the pandemic. These programs have provided an unprecedented $53 million in financial assistance to 6,416 households, paying for 57,081 months of rent and utilities since August 2020. Approximately $550,000 in financial assistance for rent and utilities is going out to 80 additional households each week.

The 24-hour ballot drop boxes located at Battle Ground City Hall and I-5 at the Ridgefield exit have been moved to new locations.

The Battle Ground ballot drop box is now located at the Battle Ground Post Office at 418 W. Main Street  next to the blue USPS mailboxes.

The Ridgefield ballot drop box is now located at the Ridgefield Junction Park and Ride at 125 N. 65th Ave. on the north side of the parking lot.
