Commissioners are available for speaking engagements to discuss proposed changes

The 15-member Clark County Charter Review Commission, elected in November 2020 to review the county’s home rule charter, at their July 7, 2021, regular meeting voted to place seven Charter amendment proposals on the November 2, 2021, general election ballot.

These measures are:

  • Resolution 2021-1, which would make County Executive Elected offices nonpartisan
  • Resolution 2021-2, which would make County Councilor offices nonpartisan
  • Resolution 2021-3, providing for a change to a five-district County Council
  • Resolution 2021-4, to change the frequency of Charter reviews and the length of Charter Review commissioner terms
  • Resolution 2021-5, requiring adoption of a new ethics code and a new autonomous review process
  • Resolution 2021-6, to establish a diversity, equity and inclusion office and commission
  • Resolution 2021-7, providing for minor corrections and technical clarifications to the Charter

Each amendment measure requires a majority approval by the voters of Clark County in the November general election in order to take effect.

“These amendment proposals are the result of an extensive, and intensive amount of work by the Charter Review Commission members, as well as a substantial amount of input from the community. We are proud to be able to present these amendment proposals to the voters of Clark County for their consideration in November,” stated Commission co-chairs Kim Harless and Chuck Green.
