Employee Benefits

Clark County provides regular full-time and part-time employees with a comprehensive benefits package. Some types of employees in some positions and bargaining units might have different benefits. General benefit information for most employees is below.

Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance

Employees may choose from four medical plan options through two different providers: Regence BlueCross BlueShield or Kaiser Permanente. Vision is included in the Kaiser medical plans and those that choose a Regence plan will get VSP for their vision coverage. Two dental plans are available through Delta Dental and Kaiser Dental.

Flexible Spending Account

A flexible spending account (FSA) is an employer-sponsored benefit that allows you to set aside pre-tax money to pay for eligible out-of-pocket medical, dental, vision, or dependent care expenses.

Life Insurance and Long-Term Disability

Clark County provides Group Term life insurance to employees at no premium cost. Additional life insurance may be purchased by employees in increments of $10,000 up to $500,000. Spouse and child coverage is also available. Long-term Disability insurance, also paid by the county, provides income protection in the event a non-work-related injury or illness renders an employee unable to work. Employees may purchase a Long-term Disability Buy-up option to increase the disability benefit.

Retirement and Deferred Compensation

Employees participate in the Washington State Public Employees' Retirement Plan. Employees also may elect to participate in a 457 deferred compensation plan.

Paid Leave

Most regular employees receive 11 observed holidays per year, as well as paid vacation and sick leave. Please refer to individual bargaining contracts or the Human Resources policy for specific information.

Transparency in Coverage Machine-Readable Files

The Departments of Health and Human Services, Labor and the Treasury finalized the Transparency in Coverage Rule that requires health insurers to post publicly available machine-readable files that include in-network negotiated payment rates and historical out-of-network charges for covered items and services. The machine-readable files are formatted to allow researchers, regulators, and application developers to more easily access and analyze data. These files can be found here:
