Vancouver, Wash. ‒ Every election, the Clark County Auditor’s Office provides an online voters’ guide with information about candidates and ballot measures for voters to make an informed decision when voting. The voters’ guide includes statements by and photographs of candidates for elective offices as well as local ballot measures with supporting and opposing statements written by citizens.

Vancouver, Wash. – The first case of severe lung disease associated with vaping has been reported in Clark County. A woman in her 40s was hospitalized due to lung injury and is now recovering.

A local medical provider reported the illness to Clark County Public Health. The woman reported vaping products containing nicotine and THC. The products were purchased at local licensed retailers.

Vancouver, Wash. – C-TRAN is the latest local business to receive certification from the Clark County Green Business program. The certification recognizes C-TRAN for its efforts to operate efficiently and reduce its environmental impact.

The Green Business program offers resources and onsite assistance to help businesses reduce their environmental impacts and offer employees healthy workplaces. The program, coordinated by Clark County Public Health, recognizes and celebrates these achievements with Green Business certification.

Vancouver, Wash. – Beginning at 8 am on Monday, Dec. 9, 2019, Clark County Elections Department began taking candidate filings for the positions of commissioner for Drainage District No. 2, Drainage Improvement District No. 5 and Diking Improvement District No. 14. These commissioner positions are six year terms. The filing period will end at 5 pm on Friday, Dec. 13.

Along with the three openings, Clark County Elections was just notified of a vacancy in Diking Improvement District No. 14. This vacant commissioner position is for an unexpired two year term.

Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County is accepting nominations for the 2020 Green Awards, an annual program recognizing excellence in environmental sustainability.

Clark County Public Health is seeking nominations of organizations and individuals who consider the environment in decision-making and practices. Self-nominations are accepted.

Vancouver, Wash. –  In Stillness and Motion; Containment of the Aesthetic, an art exhibit featuring the work of Megan Eckman and Alder Suttles will be on display at the Anstine Sixth Floor Gallery beginning Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, through March 23, 2020.

An opening reception honoring the artists is scheduled for 2:30-4:30 pm on Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, at the Anstine Gallery, sixth floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.

This event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Clark County Arts Commission.

Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County is seeking applicants to fill three open positions on the nine-member Clark Communities Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee.

Two positions have four-year terms and one is for a one-year term for a youth age 11-20.

Residents living anywhere in Clark County can apply. People with experience and expertise in advocating for biking, walking, transit, active transportation, mobility issues, public speaking or serving on boards and commissions are encouraged to apply.

Vancouver, Wash. – The Central Transfer and Recycling Center will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 11 for scheduled maintenance. Residents who want to drop off garbage or recyclables on Wednesday will need to use the facilities in west Vancouver or Washougal.

The Central Transfer and Recycling Center, 11034 NE 117th Ave., will be closed all day Wednesday as crews replace the facility’s scale house. The center will reopen Thursday morning and operate regular business hours, 6 am to 6 pm.

Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Council is seeking applicants for a volunteer position on the Solid Waste Advisory Commission.

The position represents agriculture in Clark County. Applicants should currently be involved in or have a background in one of the following areas:

Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County is accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the local civil service commission for the Sheriff’s Office created under state law RCW 41.14.

The five-member commission is required to oversee certain employment and personnel matters. The primary focus is to ensure that pre-employment testing and hiring is fair, valid and non-discriminatory. The commission also presides over appeal hearings.
