Vancouver, WA – Clark County residents who are interested in parks are encouraged to apply to fill a vacancy on the Parks Advisory Board.

The successful applicant will fill the remainder of a term that ends Dec. 31, 2017, and be eligible for reappointment to the seven-member board.

The board typically meets from noon to 2:30 p.m. the second Friday of the month, usually at Luke Jensen Sports Park, 4000 N.E. 78th St.

Board members do not receive compensation. To avoid potential conflicts of interest, board members cannot be county employees or be involved with parks construction or planning.

Under Clark County code, the Parks Advisory Board:

  • Advises and makes recommendations to the Board of County Councilors and county staff relating to acquisition, planning and development of county parks.
  • Maintains communication with other organizations, associations and residents regarding county parks.
  • Advocates to decision makers and the public for parks purposes.

County code states that when filling board vacancies, Clark County will strive for a broad representation of parks interests and perspectives.

Applicants should submit a résumé and letter of interest to Jennifer Clark, Board of County Councilors, P.O. Box 5000, Vancouver, WA 98666-5000. Applicants also may submit information by email to jennifer.clark@clark.wa.gov or fax to (360) 397-6058.
