Closure will avoid major traffic backups, delays on Northeast Andresen Road

Vancouver, WA – Sidewalk construction on Northeast 58th Street will enter a phase next week that will require temporarily closing a short section of the road for four weeks.

Northeast 58th Street will be closed from Northeast 66th Avenue east to Northeast Andresen Road from Monday, July 25, through Friday, Aug. 19.

The temporary closure is necessary so the county’s contractor, CivilWorks NW of Vancouver, can build a sidewalk along the north side of the road. Because of limited space, the contractor needs to stage equipment and supplies directly in the road.

Without temporarily closing the road, the contractor would need to manage traffic at the adjacent Northeast Andresen Road intersection, which could create significant traffic backups and delays on the busy arterial.

This short section of Northeast 58th Street ‒ approximately 0.1 mile ‒ will be closed to all traffic, except residents who live on the street. Detour signs and flaggers will guide other traffic around the temporary road closure.

The overall project includes building about 3,100 feet of sidewalk on:

  • The south side of Northeast 58th Street between Northeast 59th Avenue and Northeast 66th Avenue.
  • The north side of Northeast 58th Street between Northeast 66th Avenue and Northeast Andresen Road.

The sidewalk construction project should wrap up later this summer.
