Damage Assessment Team

Body

The Clark County Damage Assessment Team (DAT) is a network of Building Safety staff and volunteers that evaluate the structural safety of residential and commercial buildings in the event of emergencies or natural disasters.

Local residents with building inspection, construction, design, or engineering backgrounds are invited to sign up as DAT volunteers. Volunteers receive:

  • Training on proper evaluation techniques for damaged buildings.
  • Access to the Government Emergency Telecommunications Service (GETS), which allows GETS cardholders priority access to phone lines in the event of a disaster.
  • Opportunities for additional emergency response trainings and certifications.

As a volunteer, you will help building inspectors perform structural safety evaluations or related work in the event of an earthquake or other natural disaster. You will also assist with general emergency response efforts.
