Cougar Creek’s water quality is poor and improvements are lagging behind observed water quality improvements in the larger Salmon Creek watershed. This project will treat polluted stormwater from Northeast 78th Street at Northeast 13th Avenue and Northeast 16th Avenue. Stormwater in these locations is currently discharged directly to headwater of Cougar Creek with no treatment to reduce pollution or improve water quality.

Project goals:

  • Implement engineering solutions to improve the stormwater treatment capability at project locations.
  • Minimize harmful environmental impacts.
  • Minimize impacts to adjacent property owners.
  • Develop a stormwater capture and treatment system that can be adequately maintained by Clark County.

Public Works incorporates resident input when feasible. County projects are designed by professional engineers. We balance community input with other considerations to create the best possible final design. Considerations include legal requirements, environmental impacts, budget and safety. Input among residents, user groups and stakeholders often differs. While we do our best to incorporate resident input, we are not able incorporate all input or requests. Please contact the project manager (information at the bottom of the page) with questions or comments.
