Vancouver, WA – Clark County will hold a Green Neighbors Recycling Day event 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Camas Public Works Operations, 1620 S.E. 8th St.

Clark County residents can drop off block foam, electronic equipment, old tires without rims, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioning units and scrap metal. Participants are limited to five tires per person. No business waste will be accepted.

Household garbage also will be collected at this event. Garbage must be contained properly and residents must be able to remove the garbage from their vehicle themselves.

Household hazardous waste (HHW) such as paints, pesticides, poisons, automotive fluids and chemicals will NOT be accepted. Household hazardous waste can be disposed of for free at these three transfer stations:

  • Washougal Transfer Station, 4020 S. Grant St.
    third Saturday of the month, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • West Vancouver Materials Recovery Center, 6601 N.W. Old River Road
    Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Central Transfer and Recycling Center, 11034 N.E. 117th Ave.
    Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Residents who take household hazardous waste to the transfer stations between April 1 and Oct. 31 can enter to win a $20 gift card.

“The Camas Recycling Day event is a great way to dispose of bulky or heavy recyclables like fridges and block foam,” said Don Benton, Environmental Services director.

Camas also will hold its annual Yard Debris Day April 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Triangle Resources, 612 S.E. Union St.

Residents with a coupon can dispose of up to two cubic yards of yard debris such as tree branches, blackberry bushes or other woody vegetation.

Yard debris coupons have been mailed to Camas households, but also can be found at www.ci.camas.wa.us/images/DOCS/SANITATION/REPORTS/cleanupdays.pdf

Green Neighbors, an Environmental Services program, will sponsor the event in partnership with Camas. A Washington State Department of Ecology grant provides funding.

Recycling Day Events are free and open to all Clark County residents. Proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or other identification with an address, may be required.
